Once you have created an account, head to the Challenges section to begin solving. Most challenges will require you to call the PhreakMe number, where you will interact with the system directly to uncover the flag. Flags will always be announced clearly, with the word count stated upfront before the answer itself — for example: "the flag is three words: eat my shorts." Flag entries are case insensitive, so don't worry about capitalization.

Some challenges are hosted on the BBS. You can access the BBS using any ANSI terminal emulator, or through the BBS page available directly on this site. Whether you prefer the authentic dial-up experience or the convenience of the web interface, both will get you where you need to go.

Each registered player is assigned a personal PIN, visible in the top left of your account page. For certain challenges, you can submit your PIN in lieu of typing out the flag manually, so keep it handy. If you run into any trouble or have questions at any point, stop by our booth and someone will be happy to help you out.
